Filipino painters and sculptors may submit entries until March 31, 2021.
Manila, Philippines – The Metrobank Foundation Inc., whose flagship programs include the Metrobank Art & Design Excellence (MADE), an annual recognition program for Filipino visual artists, shifts to digital this year–after about six months of deferment due to the pandemic. Online programs on Facebook, such as webinars, inspirational talks, and news and features, are expected to stream year-round.
Adopting the theme “Spectrum: The Art of Possibilities,” MADE invites local artists to “tap into the expansive realm of creativity and transpose their spectrum of ideas into works that mirror the human experience and reshape the world anew,” according to its organizers.
The MADE Painting Recognition Program (APPLY HERE) is open to Filpino artists, aged 18-35, who have not staged a solo exhibition yet. The MADE Sculpture Recognition Program (APPLY HERE), on the other hand, is open to Filipino sculptors who have not won in MADE or any related competitions. Applicants may send in their entries until March 31, 2021.
The artwork submissions in 2020 will be judged alongside the entries this year.
In Metrobank’s 59th-anniversary celebration in September, the MADE Painting Recognition Program will name two grand awardees, while the MADE Sculpture Recognition Program will name one grand winner only. Each winner will receive P500,000 to help fund their artistic pursuits and a glass trophy designed by MADE awardee Noel El Farrol.
The winners will also automatically earn a spot in the MADE-Network of Winners (MADE-NOW), an alumni organization of previous MADE awardees. MADE-NOW implements various community projects that serve marginalized sectors.
